Rudy has been a percussionist & drumset player since age 11. He has performed throughout Latin America, the Eastern Caribbean, England, and now in Canada. He was a percussionist at the University of Winnipeg Symphonic Ensemble for five seasons. His current and recent work includes: the Winnipeg Pops Orchestra, the Assiniboia Concert Band, Paridize Band, Rock Bands, Christian Worship Groups, and Latin American percussion at the Colombian Alliance of Manitoba.
His musical experience swings right across a wide spectrum of genres from Rock, Christian worship, Orchestral and much more. However, his main focus of both research and performance includes: Latin Jazz and the unknown folkloric rhythms of the Caribbean and their adaptation to modern Jazz fusion.
This great song is called “St. Louis Blues” composed by W. C Handy. Here I collaborated with the Winnipeg Pops Orchestra during the 2024 spring concert season. I played Congas, Bongos and the Marching Machine.
This is a Reggae version of the well-known song "Killing Me Softly with His Song" composed by Charles Fox. I collaborated with the Winnipeg-based Reggae and Calypso band called ( Paradize Band) during the 2024 Winnipeg African-Caribbean Folklorama event.
This is a faster version of the snare pattern for a Caribbean dance.
This particular folkloric dance expression is typical of: St. Kitts and Nevis, the Dominican Republic, Montserrat and Bermuda, where it is commonly known as Gombey.
